About

Die Skeptiker is a punk band founded in 1986 in East Berlin by singer Eugen Balanskat and four fellow musicians, making them one of the most significant acts to emerge from the East German underground. They navigated the GDR's cultural restrictions by embedding sharp social criticism in their lyrics - sharp enough to matter, subtle enough to earn an official performance licence. After a hiatus from 2000 to 2006 they reunited and have been active ever since, with Balanskat as the sole original member still on stage.
