About

Die Sterne are a Hamburg-based indie rock band formed in 1992 around singer and guitarist Frank Spilker, alongside bassist Thomas Wenzel and drummer Christoph Leich. They are one of the defining acts of the Hamburger Schule - the German indie movement that reshaped how German-language lyrics were written and heard in pop music. Their mid-1990s albums, from "Wichtig" (1993) to "Universal Tellerwäscher" (1995) and "Posen" (1997), made them a household name in the German indie scene, and they have kept releasing records ever since, with their 13th studio album "Wenn es Liebe ist" out in January 2026.
