Don Pasquale is a comic opera by Gaetano Donizetti, first performed in Paris in 1843. It follows an elderly bachelor who decides to marry in order to disinherit his nephew - and ends up thoroughly outwitted. The work is one of the most frequently staged Italian opere buffe of the 19th century.
