Eliane Elias (born 1960 in São Paulo) is a Brazilian jazz pianist, vocalist, composer and arranger who built her international career after moving to New York in 1981, where she joined the fusion group Steps Ahead. She weaves bossa nova, samba and Afro-Brazilian rhythms into jazz improvisation across more than 33 albums, winning Grammy and Latin Grammy Awards for Best Latin Jazz Album. Her early mentors included Antônio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, with whom she toured South America as a teenager.
Eliane Elias released her live album 'Ao Vivo' on May 22, 2026 via Candid Records, recorded at the SFJAZZ Center in October 2023.
The first single from 'Ao Vivo', 'Sambou Sambou', was released on March 27, 2026.
Elias performed a multi-night residency at Catalina Jazz Club in Hollywood (June 19-22, 2025) as a 2025 Grammy nominee.
Her 2024 album 'Time and Again' received a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards.
'Time and Again', an album of eight original compositions recorded in São Paulo with guests Bill Frisell and Djavan, was released on June 28, 2024 on Candid Records.
