Ennio Morricone (1928-2020) was an Italian composer, conductor, and orchestrator whose film scores reshaped the sound of cinema worldwide. He wrote music for more than 400 films and television productions as well as over 100 concert works, earning two Academy Awards - an Honorary Oscar in 2007 and a competitive win for The Hateful Eight in 2016 - alongside three Grammys, six BAFTAs, and the Polar Music Prize. His partnership with director Sergio Leone on the Dollars Trilogy and Once Upon a Time in the West remains one of the defining composer-director collaborations in film history.
