Russian rock legends Aquarium play Cologne's Carlswerk Victoria - an evening of iconic songs from one of the genre's most enduring acts.
Aquarium (Аквариум) is a Russian rock band founded in Leningrad in 1972 by Boris Grebenshchikov and Anatoly Gunitsky. One of the earliest and most influential acts in Soviet underground rock, the group helped shape an entire generation's relationship with Russian-language music over more than five decades. The lineup has changed many times, but Grebenshchikov - known widely as BG - has remained the band's sole constant, writing and recording more than 58 albums across wildly different styles, from folk and reggae to art rock and electronica.
Aquarium released a new studio album, 'Strannye novosti s dalyokoy zvezdy' (Strange News from a Distant Star), comprising 10 tracks written in 2024-2025.
Boris Grebenshchikov and Aquarium are scheduled to perform three concerts in Germany in September 2026: Hamburg (11 Sep), Cologne (13 Sep) and Stuttgart (15 Sep).
Anatoly 'George' Gunitsky, co-founder of Aquarium, died in St. Petersburg at the age of 71.
A concert by Boris Grebenshchikov was cancelled in Nice in October 2024 following a reported cardiac episode during a flight from Barcelona.
In an interview with TV Rain, Grebenshchikov said he misses performing for Russian audiences, noting that Aquarium existed for them.
