Eric Johanson is an American blues-rock guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter born in Alexandria, Louisiana, and long based in New Orleans. Self-taught from age five, he cut his teeth playing clubs with seasoned musicians as a teenager before Tab Benoit signed him to Whiskey Bayou Records and produced his debut, Burn It Down (2017). His 2023 Ruf Records album The Deep and the Dirty debuted at #1 on the Billboard Blues Albums chart, and Guitar Player Magazine named him one of its 25 Best New Blues Guitarists.
Eric Johanson released 'Shake the Fever', the lead single from his forthcoming album The Open Bayou, due October 16, 2026 on his own Levee Ward Records.
The Open Bayou was self-produced by Johanson and mixed by Bill Skibbe, known for his work with Jack White, marking Johanson's first release on his own label.
Live in Mississippi, a live album on Ruf Records, was released on March 21, 2025, reaching the Top 10 on the Billboard Blues Albums chart.
Johanson's power trio performed in more than 100 cities across 10 countries during 2025.
