Two piano masters, Evgeny Kissin and Sir Andras Schiff, perform together at the Elbphilharmonie.
Evgeny Kissin (born 10 October 1971 in Moscow) is a concert pianist widely regarded as one of the foremost interpreters of his generation, rooted in the Russian piano school. He came to international attention at twelve, performing both Chopin concertos at the Moscow Conservatory, and has since appeared with virtually every major orchestra and conductor in the world. He holds British and Israeli citizenship alongside his Russian origin, and has composed chamber works published by Henle Verlag.
Kissin released a new live album, 'Evgeny Kissin Plays Chopin (Live)', on 28 November 2025.
A review article ranked Kissin's Chopin Waltz performance among his most-watched YouTube videos, with over 7 million views.
Kissin's Toronto recital at Roy Thomson Hall, originally scheduled for May 22, 2026, was rescheduled to April 25, 2028.
Russia's Justice Ministry designated Kissin a 'foreign agent' in July 2024, citing his public support for Ukraine and opposition to the war.
In the 2025-26 season Kissin tours internationally with recital programs featuring Beethoven, Chopin, Schumann and Liszt, and performs concertos with the Chicago and Boston Symphony Orchestras.
