Felix Mendelssohn (1809–1847) was a German composer, pianist, and conductor of the Romantic era. He is best known for his Violin Concerto in E minor, the overture A Midsummer Night's Dream, and the oratorios Elijah and St. Paul. He also played a pivotal role in reviving interest in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.
