German pianist Florian Christl performs his music in the beautiful setting of Planten un Blomen.
Florian Christl is a German composer and pianist born in 1990 in Amberg, Bavaria, who taught himself composition after attending a music high school and later studying media technology at OTH Regensburg. His debut album Inspiration (2018) on Sony Classical reached the top 20 of the German classical charts and launched an international touring career. Working in a neoclassical style that draws on Einaudi and Max Richter while remaining distinctly his own, he pairs lyrical piano writing with imaginative string arrangements. His 2024 concept album Donau traces the Danube river through ten countries, weaving in folk musicians from Bavaria to Moldova and former members of the Odessa Opera Orchestra.
Florian Christl released the EP Pianissimo II and the single Lullaby in 2025.
Christl launched his Album Release Tour 2025 with a concert at Silent Green Kulturquartier in Berlin on 20 January 2025.
The concept album Donau was released on 8 November 2024 via Sony Classical, featuring 12 compositions inspired by the Danube river and guest musicians from Bavaria, Moldova and Odessa.
During the recording of Donau, Christl suffered a heart attack in September 2023, which interrupted work on the album for several weeks.
