Franz Fühmann was a German-language writer born in 1922 in Rokytnice nad Jizerou, Bohemia. He wrote prose, poetry and essays, and his most personal work grapples with his own involvement in National Socialism and the aftermath of the war. He died in 1984 in Berlin.
