About
Freundeskreis (also known as FK) are a German hip-hop group from Stuttgart, formed in 1996 by rapper Max Herre, producer Don Philippe (Philippe Kayser) and DJ Friction (Martin Welzer). Signed to Die Fantastischen Vier's label Four Music, they built their reputation on politically conscious lyrics that championed equality and international understanding - rapping in German, English, French and even Esperanto. Their 1997 debut 'Quadratur des Kreises' and the platinum follow-up 'Esperanto' (1999) placed them at the centre of Stuttgart's golden era of German hip-hop. After disbanding in 2007, the trio reunited in 2017 to mark the 20th anniversary of their debut.
