Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805) was a German poet, playwright and philosopher, one of the central figures of German literature. Born in Marbach am Neckar, he is best known for plays such as The Robbers, Intrigue and Love, and Don Carlos. Together with Goethe, he defined the Weimar Classicism movement.
