About

Geier Sturzflug is a German rock band from Bochum, founded in 1979 by singer and guitarist Friedel Geratsch. They rose to fame during the Neue Deutsche Welle era with the satirical anthem 'Bruttosozialprodukt', which hit #1 in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in 1983. Their music blends rock, ska, reggae and jazz with sharp, socially critical lyrics - a combination that has kept them relevant on the German-language retro and festival circuit for over four decades.
