A Night for George Harrison - Stefanie Hempel
Stefanie Hempel celebrates the music of George Harrison in a dedicated tribute evening at Hamburg's Fabrik.
George Harrison (1943-2001) was an English musician who rose to global fame as the lead guitarist of the Beatles - the band he helped steer toward Indian classical music and Eastern spirituality. After the group split in 1970, he released the acclaimed triple album All Things Must Pass and organised the Concert for Bangladesh (1971), rock history's first large-scale charity concert. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: as a Beatle in 1988 and posthumously as a solo artist in 2004.
The 1992 Live in Japan album, recorded with Eric Clapton, was reissued on vinyl and CD on March 20, 2026 via Dark Horse Records/BMG.
Three Harrison solo titles - including the 1979 self-titled album - were made available again on vinyl and CD on October 24, 2025.
A 50th-anniversary expanded edition of Living in the Material World (1973) was released on November 15, 2024 via Dark Horse/BMG, including Dolby Atmos mixes and previously unheard alternate takes.
BMG entered into a global publishing agreement with Harrison's estate to administer the Harrisongs catalog of more than 200 songs.
