George Michael (born Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou; 25 June 1963 - 25 December 2016) was an English singer-songwriter and record producer who first rose to fame as one half of the pop duo Wham! before building one of the most successful solo careers in pop history. His debut solo album Faith (1987) won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year and has sold over 25 million copies worldwide; across his career he accumulated 13 UK number-one singles and 10 US Billboard Hot 100 chart-toppers. He was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023.
