About

Gipsy Kings are a French group from Arles and Montpellier, formed in 1979 from two related Romani families - the Reyes brothers (sons of flamenco singer José Reyes) and their cousins the Baliardos. Singing mostly in Spanish, they fused Catalan rumba, flamenco and pop into a sound that broke into the global mainstream with their 1987 self-titled album, which spent 40 weeks on the US charts. Their Grammy-winning album Savor Flamenco (2013) and worldwide sales of around 20 million records confirm their place as the best-selling French music act in history. Today the band tours in two parallel lineups - Gipsy Kings featuring Nicolas Reyes and Gipsy Kings featuring Tonino Baliardo.
