Girls Under Glass (GUG) is a darkwave and electro-gothic band from Hamburg, founded in 1986 by Thomas Lücke, Hauke Harms, and Volker "Zaphor" Zacharias. Described as "an indispensable part of the German wave and gothic scene", they built a catalogue of ten studio albums across four decades, ranging from gothic rock through industrial metal to trip-hop-tinged electronics. After an 18-year recording hiatus, the band returned in 2023 with Backdraft - their most acclaimed release in years, topping the Sonic Seducer annual chart.
