Gordi
Australian singer-songwriter and producer Gordi performs at YUCA in Cologne.
Gordi is the stage name of Sophie Payten (born 1992, Canowindra, New South Wales), an Australian singer-songwriter and producer who also holds a medical degree and worked as a doctor during the COVID-19 pandemic. Her folktronica sound - spare acoustic arrangements layered with electronics and confessional lyrics - earned her wide recognition with the second album Our Two Skins (2020, Jagjaguwar), which won the AIR Award for Best Independent Pop Album and was nominated for an ARIA. Her third album Like Plasticine (August 2025, Mushroom Music), shaped by her hospital experiences, debuted at #9 on the ARIA Albums Chart and received placements on NPR, BBC 6 Music and Sirius XMU.
Gordi released the single 'Forget About Dying' in June 2026.
Gordi released the single 'High Line' (co-written with Alex Lahey, self-produced) and announced an 11-date Australian headline tour running from March to May 2026.
Gordi's third studio album Like Plasticine was released on 8 August 2025 via Mushroom Music and debuted at #9 on the ARIA Albums Chart.
Gordi performed at The Great Escape Festival in Brighton, UK, in May 2025, showcasing material from Like Plasticine.
Gordi was announced as special guest on David Gray's November 2025 Australian tour, with stops in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
