Grzegorz Turnau (born 1967 in Kraków) is a Polish composer, pianist, singer and poet whose work sits at the crossroads of sung poetry, jazz and cabaret tradition. He debuted at 17 at the Student Song Festival in Kraków in 1984, went on to spend 13 years at the legendary Piwnica pod Baranami cabaret, and has since released 16 solo albums - most of them gold or platinum. He holds 9 Fryderyk awards, 2 Wiktor awards, the Grand Prix of the Opole Festival, and the Gloria Artis medal; since 2016 he has also served as musical director of the Teatr Lalka in Warsaw.
