Guru Guru is a German krautrock band founded in Heidelberg in 1968 by drummer and vocalist Mani Neumeier (born 1940 in Munich). As one of the earliest groups to fuse free jazz with rock, they built a reputation for wild improvisation, psychedelic energy and a refusal to stay within genre lines - drawing on Indian, African and Asian rhythms alongside influences from industrial and avant-garde music. With over 40 albums and more than 5,000 live shows to their name, they remain active today, still touring Germany and beyond.
The 1975 album 'Mani und seine Freunde' was reissued on CD and digital by MiG Music on 30 January 2026, drawing renewed attention to Guru Guru's mid-70s catalogue.
Guru Guru have announced further German tour dates running into early 2027, with confirmed stops in Kassel, Fürth, Hamburg and Heidelberg.
Guru Guru completed 'The Incredible Tour 2024' across Germany, with dates in Aachen, Wetzlar, Offenbach, Stuttgart, Bonn and Düsseldorf among others.
Guru Guru and Mani Neumeier undertook an extensive Japan tour in early 2024, including dates in Okinawa, Tokyo, Osaka, Kobe and Kyoto.
Guru Guru released their studio album 'The Incredible Universe Of Guru Guru' on Repertoire Records, recorded between April 2022 and August 2023.
