About

Ina Forsman (born 1994, Helsinki) is a Finnish blues and soul singer-songwriter now based in Berlin, whose deep contralto voice draws on the traditions of Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, and Nina Simone. She won the 2013 Finnish Blues Challenge, signed to Ruf Records, and released her acclaimed self-titled debut in 2016 - recorded in Austin, Texas with a full brass section. Her fourth studio album, After Dark Hour (Jazzhaus Records, 2025), marks a shift toward retro soul and Motown-inflected funk, produced in Helsinki with Michael Bleu.
