Inga Rumpf, born 2 August 1946 in Hamburg, is one of Germany's most celebrated rock and soul singers - a voice that critics at the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung once called the greatest individual vocal talent the German rock scene had produced. She rose to prominence in the early 1970s as frontwoman of Frumpy and then Atlantis, toured alongside B.B. King, Aerosmith and Lynyrd Skynyrd, and wrote a song that Tina Turner recorded as the B-side of her 1984 comeback single. A prolific solo artist ever since, she has moved freely between R&B, gospel, jazz and blues without ever compromising her sound.
