Ivan Urgant (born 16 April 1978 in Leningrad) is a Russian television host, actor, comedian and musician who became the face of Russian late-night television as the host of "Evening Urgant" on Channel One from 2012 to 2022. The show was suspended in February 2022 after Urgant publicly opposed Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He comes from a dynasty of actors - his grandmother Nina Urgant was a celebrated Soviet film star - and alongside his TV career he plays guitar, piano and drums, and performs under the stage name Grisha Urgant.
Urgant launched a YouTube channel called "Live Urgant" (Живой Ургант) on 25 December 2025, announcing it would feature footage from his 2025 touring year.
The New York Times reported that several prominent Russian cultural figures had appealed to Putin to reinstate Urgant on television, but Putin refused, citing Urgant's anti-war stance.
Urgant's autumn 2025 European tour leg included concerts in Barcelona, Alicante, Vienna, Berlin, Frankfurt, London, Belgrade and Chisinau.
Russia's Justice Ministry confirmed it was conducting monitoring operations to determine whether Urgant could be designated a "foreign agent" under a 2022 law on foreign influence.
Urgant announced the "Urgant Live" solo concert tour in February 2025, with the spring leg covering Haifa, Tel Aviv, Yerevan, Tbilisi and Tashkent.
