About

Jimi Hendrix (1942-1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter from Seattle, widely regarded as the greatest electric guitarist in rock history. In just four years as a headline act - first with the Jimi Hendrix Experience in London, then at Woodstock and the Isle of Wight - he rewrote what the instrument could do, fusing blues, psychedelic rock and funk through radical use of feedback, distortion and the wah-wah pedal. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame calls him 'arguably the greatest instrumentalist in the history of rock music.' He died in London in September 1970, aged 27.
