About

Joe Cocker (20 May 1944 - 22 December 2014) was an English blues-rock and soul singer from Sheffield, celebrated for his raw, gravelly voice and the convulsive physicality of his stage performances. His 1968 cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" went to number one in the UK, and his electrifying set at Woodstock in 1969 made him an international name overnight. Over a 43-year recording career spanning 22 studio albums, he added further landmark hits including the Grammy-winning duet "Up Where We Belong" (1982) with Jennifer Warnes, and was posthumously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in November 2025.
