Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer and organist of the Baroque era, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of Western music. He spent much of his career as a cantor in Leipzig, where he produced a vast body of sacred works. His best-known compositions include the St Matthew Passion, the Mass in B minor and the Brandenburg Concertos.
