John Scofield (born December 26, 1951, in Dayton, Ohio) is an American guitarist and composer whose playing weaves together jazz, funk, blues, and rock into a sound that is immediately his own. He rose to wider recognition as a member of Miles Davis's band in the early 1980s and has since released more than 40 albums as a leader, earning three Grammy Awards along the way. Spotify ranks "I Don't Need No Doctor" and "A Go Go" among his most-streamed tracks, while his recent ECM output - from the solo set John Scofield (2022) to the duo album Memories of Home with Dave Holland (2025) - shows no sign of creative slowdown.
Scofield released Memories of Home on ECM (November 21, 2025), his first duo album with bassist Dave Holland, recorded in August 2024 at NRS Recording Studio in Catskill, NY.
