The Joni Project
A concert celebrating the music and legacy of Joni Mitchell, one of the most influential artists in music history.
Joni Mitchell (born Roberta Joan Anderson, 1943, Fort McLeod, Alberta) is a Canadian singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and painter whose work reshaped the boundaries of folk, pop, and jazz. Her 1971 album Blue - ranked among the greatest records ever made by Rolling Stone - and the jazz-inflected Court and Spark (1974) remain touchstones for generations of musicians. Among her eleven Grammy Awards is a 2024 Grammy for Best Folk Album and a 2026 Grammy for Best Historical Album; Rolling Stone named her one of the greatest songwriters ever, and AllMusic called her "the most important and influential female recording artist of the late 20th century." After recovering from a brain aneurysm in 2015, she returned to live performance at the 2022 Newport Folk Festival.
Mitchell won the Grammy Award for Best Historical Album at the 68th Grammy Awards (Feb. 1, 2026) for 'Joni Mitchell Archives - Vol. 4: The Asylum Years (1976-1980)', her 11th Grammy overall.
It was confirmed that Meryl Streep will portray the older Mitchell in a Cameron Crowe-directed biopic, with Anya Taylor-Joy rumored for the younger version.
Archival label Rhino released 'Be Cool', a previously unreleased demo recorded during sessions for Mitchell's 1982 album Wild Things Run Fast.
Mitchell announced 'Joni's Jazz', a 61-track career-spanning jazz compilation album.
Mitchell headlined two sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl (Oct. 19-20, 2024) with Brandi Carlile and the Joni Jam - her first Los Angeles concerts in over two decades.
