José González

About

José González (born 1978 in Gothenburg, Sweden, to Argentine parents) is a singer-songwriter and classical guitarist whose intimate acoustic style blends indie folk, Latin influences, and introspective lyricism. He broke through internationally with his 2003 debut Veneer - particularly his fingerpicked cover of The Knife's "Heartbeats" - and has since released five solo albums, the latest being Against the Dying of the Light (2026). He also performs as a member of the Swedish band Junip and has appeared in the 2023 film A Tiger in Paradise, a fictionalized account of his own life.
