About
Joshua Bell (born 1967, Bloomington, Indiana) is an American violinist whose career spans nearly four decades - he has performed with virtually every major orchestra in the world and won a Grammy Award for his recording of Nicholas Maw's Violin Concerto. Since 2011 he has served as Music Director of London's Academy of St Martin in the Fields, leading the ensemble both as conductor and soloist from the concertmaster's chair. In October 2025, King Charles III appointed him an honorary Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to music. He plays the 1713 'Gibson ex Huberman' Stradivarius and has released more than 40 albums on Sony Classical.
