Kumbia Queers are a Buenos Aires-born punk-cumbia band founded in 2007 by members of Argentine punk outfit She Devils and Mexican rocker Ali Gua Gua of Las Ultrasónicas. They built their sound by twisting rock classics - The Cure, Black Sabbath, the Ramones - into cumbia rhythms with queer, feminist lyrics, then gradually shifted to original material. Now a five-piece, they are widely regarded as pioneers of the tropi-punk genre and a key reference point for LGBTQ+ music in Latin America, with regular European tours since 2012.
Kumbia Queers played Chicago's Beat Kitchen in June 2025, with their latest single 'Toco Madera' described as their most recent release ahead of the show.
The band performed at SO36 in Berlin on 8 August 2025 as part of a European summer tour, with shows also in Würzburg, Munich, Bochum, Cologne, Bremen and Nürnberg.
Kumbia Queers released the single 'Cuando hablas así' in June 2023, a collaboration with Spanish singer-songwriter Nacho Vegas.
The band released the animated-video single 'Ghosteo' in August 2022 and performed it live at Rock al Parque festival in Bogotá in November 2022.
