Lang Lang (born 14 June 1982 in Shenyang, China) is one of the most prominent classical pianists of his generation, the first Chinese pianist engaged by both the Berlin Philharmonic and the Vienna Philharmonic. He broke onto the international scene at 17 when he stepped in for an ailing André Watts with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and has since recorded an extensive catalogue for Deutsche Grammophon. Beyond the concert hall, he performed at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, the 2024 reopening of Notre-Dame de Paris, and the 2026 Milan Winter Olympics opening ceremony.
Lang Lang performed the Olympic Anthem at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics opening ceremony on 6 February, alongside mezzo-soprano Cecilia Bartoli.
Lang Lang appeared with the Berliner Philharmoniker for a three-night run in February 2026.
