Lars Danielsson (born 1958, Smålandsstenar, Sweden) is a double bassist, cellist, and composer who trained at the Gothenburg conservatory - first in classical cello, then in jazz. Over four decades he has built a reputation as one of Europe's most distinctive jazz voices, recording and performing with John Scofield, Charles Lloyd, Jack DeJohnette, and Leszek Możdżer, among many others. Since 2012 his Liberetto project - a chamber-jazz ensemble blending Scandinavian folk, classical writing, and jazz improvisation - has become his most celebrated work, released on the German label ACT Music.
