About

Leonard Cohen (1934-2016) was a Canadian singer-songwriter, poet, and novelist from Montreal whose work spans 14 studio albums and several acclaimed books of poetry and fiction. His songs - from the folk-inflected debut Songs of Leonard Cohen (1967) through the synth-driven I'm Your Man (1988) to the valedictory You Want It Darker (2016) - are marked by dense literary imagery, a deepening baritone, and an unflinching gaze at love, faith, and mortality. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, while 'Hallelujah' became one of the most covered songs in popular music history.
