Magdalena Abakanowicz (1930–2017) was a Polish visual artist of international standing, best known for her monumental textile sculptures called "Abakans" and large-scale figurative installations made from organic materials. Her works are held in major museums worldwide. She also created experimental Super-8 films documenting her artistic process.
