Manon Lescaut is an opera by Giacomo Puccini, first performed in Turin in 1893. The libretto draws on the novel by abbé Prévost, following young Manon as she is torn between love for the Chevalier des Grieux and the lure of a comfortable life. It was Puccini's first major operatic triumph.
