Manowar is an American heavy metal band formed in 1980 in Auburn, New York, by bassist Joey DeMaio and vocalist Eric Adams. Known for thunderous sound, warrior mythology, and an uncompromising "true metal" ethos, they have sold over 30 million records worldwide and hold Guinness World Records for the loudest concert performance. Their 1988 album Kings of Metal remains their best-selling release and a cornerstone of the genre.
