Mayhem & Marduk
Two leading black metal bands - Mayhem and Marduk - perform together in Nuremberg.
Marduk is a Swedish black metal band from Norrköping, founded in 1990 by guitarist Morgan Steinmeyer Håkansson with the stated aim of creating the most extreme and blasphemous metal act in the world. Over more than three decades they have released a string of influential albums - from the war-obsessed Panzer Division Marduk (1999) to the 2023 record Memento Mori - and built a reputation as one of Scandinavia's most relentless touring bands. Their sound is defined by blast-beat drumming at punishing tempos, walls of distorted guitar, and lyrics that circle themes of war, Satanism and anti-Christianity.
Former Marduk bassist Roger 'B. War' Svensson, who played on the band's classic 1990s recordings, died in July 2026.
Marduk are confirmed on the 'Death Over Europe' tour bill alongside Mayhem, Immolation and others, with a date in Praha on 21 February 2026.
Marduk launched the 'Memento Mori Europa Part III' tour in February 2025, celebrating the band's 35th anniversary with a special set of rare tracks.
Marduk played shows in Kazakhstan, Georgia and Armenia in January-February 2025 as part of a Caucasus and Central Asia run.
Bassist Joel Lindholm left Marduk in May 2023 after video footage showed him apparently making a Nazi salute during a performance at Incineration Fest in London; guitarist Morgan Håkansson called the incident 'deplorable'.
