Mayhem & Marduk
Two leading black metal bands - Mayhem and Marduk - perform together in Nuremberg.
Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band formed in 1984 in Langhus, near Oslo, widely regarded as one of the genre's founding acts. Their 1994 debut album De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas set a template for black metal that still resonates today. The band's early history - marked by the 1991 suicide of vocalist Dead and the 1993 murder of guitarist Euronymous by then-bassist Varg Vikernes - became inseparable from the mythology of the entire Norwegian black metal scene. The current lineup of Necrobutcher, Hellhammer, vocalist Attila Csihar, and guitarists Teloch and Ghul has performed in over 60 countries and continues to record and tour.
Mayhem's seventh studio album is in active development, with guitarist Teloch publicly confirming intensive work on new material ahead of a planned release.
Mayhem released new singles 'Weep for Nothing', 'Despair', and 'Life Is a Corpse You Drag' in 2025, signalling material from the forthcoming seventh album.
Mayhem headlined the 2025 Decibel Magazine Tour across North America (March-April), supported by Mortiis, Imperial Triumphant, and New Skeletal Faces.
Mayhem cancelled their 40th anniversary North American fall tour dates in November 2024 due to a medical emergency requiring surgery for one band member.
Mayhem released Daemonic Rites, a live album capturing their concert performances, via Century Media Records.
