Mental Cruelty is a German blackened deathcore band from Karlsruhe, formed in 2014. They blend crushing deathcore with symphonic black metal arrangements, and signed to Century Media Records in 2022. Their fourth album, Zwielicht (2023), produced by Josh Schroeder, marked a clear shift toward darker, more melodic and blackened territory and brought the band wider international recognition.
Mental Cruelty announced their first-ever headlining European tour for late 2026, supported by Ov Sulfur and Extermination Dismemberment, covering cities including Rotterdam, Köln, Hamburg, Berlin, Prague, Paris, London and Helsinki.
Mental Cruelty supported Kanonenfieber on the Soldatenschicksale European tour, with stops in Copenhagen, Stockholm, Warsaw, Ostrava, Graz, Stuttgart, Cologne, Berlin, Dresden and Hamburg.
Mental Cruelty released the single "Helheim" featuring Signs of the Swarm vocalist David Simonich, and launched a 28-city North American tour with three sold-out dates before the first show.
The band completed a European support run alongside Cradle of Filth and Butcher Babies.
Mental Cruelty signed to Century Media Records and, following a vocalist change, introduced Lukas Nicolai as their new frontman in early 2023.
