#395 Oren Ambarchi (AU) / Mats Gustafsson (SE) / Alf Jackson (AU)
Three experimental musicians from Australia and Sweden - guitarist Oren Ambarchi, saxophonist Mats Gustafsson and drummer Alf Jackson - in an intimate improvisation concert.
Oren Ambarchi (born 1969, Sydney) is an Australian composer and multi-instrumentalist who has spent four decades pushing the electric guitar far beyond its conventional role - through electronics, extended technique and drone - into territory closer to tone generators than rock. He runs the Black Truffle label and has collaborated with Sunn O))), Jim O'Rourke, Keiji Haino, Fennesz, John Zorn and Alvin Lucier, among many others. His solo album Shebang (2022, Drag City) and the ongoing Ghosted trilogy with Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin cemented his standing as one of the most consistently inventive figures in contemporary experimental music.
Ghosted III, the third collaborative album with Johan Berthling and Andreas Werliin, was released on Drag City on August 29, 2025, recorded in Stockholm in December 2024.
Ambarchi announced a winter 2025/2026 European live schedule including dates in Strasbourg, Oslo, Braga and Amsterdam.
Ambarchi performed a duo concert with Will Guthrie at Gnration in Braga, Portugal in March 2026.
Ambarchi appeared at Bimhuis in Amsterdam as part of the KKAARREENNIINNAA project with Charlemagne Palestine and Daniel O'Sullivan.
