Orson Welles was an American director, actor and radio dramatist whose film Citizen Kane (1941) is widely regarded as one of the greatest movies ever made. He became a household name in 1938 when his radio adaptation of The War of the Worlds was so convincingly realistic that it caused widespread panic among American listeners.
