Otello is a four-act opera by Giuseppe Verdi, premiered in Milan in 1887. The libretto was written by Arrigo Boito, based on Shakespeare's tragedy Othello. The opera follows the Venetian general Otello, whose jealousy and manipulation by the scheming Iago lead to a tragic conclusion.
