Paul van Dyk (born Matthias Paul, 16 December 1971, Eisenhüttenstadt, East Germany) is a Berlin-based DJ, record producer and musician who helped define trance music in the 1990s and remains one of its most recognised figures worldwide. He was the first artist to receive a Grammy nomination in the Best Dance/Electronic Album category, for his 2003 album Reflections, and was voted World No. 1 DJ by DJ Magazine in both 2005 and 2006. Beyond the club circuit, he has remixed artists including Depeche Mode, Madonna and U2, and runs his own VANDIT Records imprint.
