Pedro Almodóvar is a Spanish film director and screenwriter, closely associated with Madrid and the cultural freedoms that followed the Franco era. His films - among them All About My Mother and Talk to Her - are known for vivid colour, strong female characters and a blend of melodrama with dark humour. In 2020 he made his first English-language film, Pain and Glory.
