Peter Cornelius (born 29 January 1951 in Vienna, real name Peter Cornelius Korunka) is an Austrian singer-songwriter, guitarist and one of the defining figures of Austropop. Alongside Wolfgang Ambros and Rainhard Fendrich, he is considered the most important representative of the genre - and the most successful Austrian singer-songwriter in Germany. His 1982 album 'Reif für die Insel' spent 45 consecutive weeks in the German album charts, and his guitar work on Michael Cretu's Enigma project earned him a Grammy nomination.
