Peter Gabriel (born 13 February 1950, Chobham, Surrey) is an English singer-songwriter, musician and human rights activist. He rose to fame as the theatrical frontman of Genesis from 1967 to 1975, then built a solo career that produced landmark albums such as So (1986) and the 2023 comeback i/o - his first record of new original material in over 21 years, which topped the UK Albums Chart. A two-time inductee into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (as a Genesis member and as a solo artist), he is also the founder of the WOMAD world-music festival and Real World Records.
Gabriel continues releasing monthly singles from his new album o\i, with six tracks out by end of May 2026, each tied to the full moon.
Peter Gabriel announced his eleventh studio album o\i on 3 January 2026, launching the project with the single 'Been Undone' on the Wolf Moon.
Gabriel revealed the title of his next album, o\i, in a February 2025 interview with Mojo magazine.
i/o won two Grammy Awards at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in February 2025, in the categories Best Engineered Album (Non-Classical) and Best Immersive Audio Album.
i/o debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart in December 2023 - Gabriel's first chart-topper in the UK since So in 1986.
