About
Praying Mantis are a London-born melodic hard rock band founded in the early 1970s by brothers Tino and Chris Troy, who remain its core to this day. Though they were part of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal, their sound leaned toward AOR and twin-guitar harmonies rather than the riff-heavy approach of contemporaries like Iron Maiden or Saxon. Their 1981 debut "Time Tells No Lies" is still regarded as a NWOBHM classic, and the band - one of very few from that era still actively recording - released their 13th studio album "Defiance" via Frontiers Music in April 2024, marking 50 years together.
