Prince (born Prince Rogers Nelson, 1958–2016) was an American musician, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. He was known for blending funk, rock, pop and R&B into a highly distinctive style. His landmark album Purple Rain (1984), accompanied by a film of the same name, brought him worldwide fame.
